Drew Hamblin was named head athletic trainer at Newberry College on May 10, 2010.
Hamblin comes to Newberry from the National Football League, working with the Buffalo Bills as an assistant athletic trainer since May 2009. With the Bills, Hamblin developed and assisted with the rehabilitation of all injured athletes and provided medical coverage during practice and games. He was also responsible for inventory and purchasing in the athletic training room as well as supervision of the summer intern program during the Bills' training camp.
Prior to his time with the Bills, Hamblin was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. Hamblin worked primarily with the Razorbacks' football team in all aspects of the athletic training program and also assisted with Arkansas' baseball, men's golf and track and field teams. While at Fayetteville, Hamblin also assisted in the sports medicine coverage for NCAA and SEC championship events hosted by the Razorbacks.
Hamblin obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he participated in the athletic training program as a student for three years. He was the lead senior student with the Badgers' football program in 2006 and also assisted with the men's hockey, wrestling and softball teams.
