2009-10: Castro had an extremely solid first season with the scarlet and gray of the Newberry College women's golf program, earning All-SAC second team honors... Barbara had a very successful start to the 2009-10 campaign with three top-5 placments in her first four collegiate tournaments... Castro twice tied for 3rd with all-tournament selections at the L-R/Myrtle Beach Intercollege on October 5-6 (77-74=151; +7) and the Patsy Rendleman Invitational on October 12-13 (76-77=153; +9)... In 22 rounds for 2009-10, Castro averaged 80.7 strokes, ninth best in school history... Barbara registered 10 rounds of sub-80 scores posting a career best 18-hole low of 74 twice, at the 2010 Food Lion SAC Championships on April 19-20 and in the second round of the L-R/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate... Castro's 54-hole score of 233 (82-77-74; +17) at the SAC Championships is the eighth best stroke total in program history and Barbara earned first team all-tournament honors with a tie for 5th... Castro picked up seven top-20 placements, five top-10 placments, and four top-5 placements during the 2009-10 season.
