Newberry College Athletic Hall of Fame Nomination Form
The following guidelines are to be used by the Board of Directors for selection to the Newberry College Athletic Hall of Fame:
Former Student-Athletes
Must have been graduated five (5) years before a Letterman is eligible determined by the date of matriculation.
In one year no more than one (1) deceased Letterman can be inducted unless determined by majority vote of the Board of Directors.
In one year no more than a total of three (3) Lettermen may be inducted.
To be nominated a person must have earned a letter at Newberry College. (
Other points of consideration should be All-conference, All-American, All-Time Newberry College, Conference, or NCAA/NAIA, statistical leaders, etc.)
Selection is first based on a person’s accomplishments while attending Newberry College. Other consideration may include athletic related accomplishments after leaving the college or making a significant difference in society at-large.
Each nominee will remain active for a period of five (5) years, then must be re-nominated to be kept in the active file.
Selection is determined by a majority vote of the Board of Directors.
Coaches and Administrators
Tenure of at least four (4) years in the athletic department
In one year no more than two (2) Coaches/Administrators can be inducted.
Outstanding career as a coach, administrator or professional staff member that has brought exceptional distinction to the department or made a significant difference in society at-large.
No one that is currently employed is eligible to be inducted as a coach or administrator.
Each nominee will remain active for a period of five (5) years, then must be re-nominated to be kept in the active file.
Election to the Hall of Fame is only by a unanimous vote of the Board of Directors.
Induction of Others
Others may be considered for induction to the Hall of Fame who have made exceptional contributions to Newberry College athletic program through the Newberry College Letterman’s Club Distinguished Service to Athletics Award.
A team is eligible for nomination five (5) years from the end of the academic year in which its regular season of competition was completed. Teams must have accomplished national recognition to be given consideration.
(Teams are defined as consisting of student-athletes only.)
Deceased candidates making exceptional contributions to Newberry College athletics, shall be given equal consideration to receive recognition posthumously in the Newberry College Letterman’s Club Hall of Fame.
In one year no more than one (1) “Others” can be inducted.
Each nominee will remain active for a period of five (5) years, then must be re-nominated to be kept in the active file.
Election to the Hall of Fame is only by a unanimous vote of the Board of Directors.
