BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Newberry College women's golf team is ranked ninth nationally in the GolfStat Division II head-to-head rankings, with two Wolves ranked in the top 50 in the national individual rankings. Newberry's tough strength of schedule and strong finishes has the Wolves ranked amongst the elite in Division II's toughest region. Newberry is the sixth of seven South Region teams in the top 10 and one of only two South Atlantic Conference teams in the top 25. [GolfStat head-to-head] In the individual rankings, Barbara Castro (Coruna, Spain) is tied for 26th nationally with and adjusted stroke average of 74.75, while Lisa Brandl (Nuremberg, Germany) is 35th with a 75.25 average. [Individual rankings] The Wolves have two more fall tournaments, with the next coming on October 15-16 as Newberry looks to defend its 2011 title at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational hosted by Catawba in Salisbury, N.C. On October 26-28, Newberry will step up its level of competition and play in Furman's Lady Paladin Invitational. |
