Newberry, previously ranked No. 9, dropped a spot after going 1-2 in the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference championship.
No. 2 Lenoir-Rhyne, No. 5 Carson-Newman, No. 7 Mars Hill and No. 8 Wingate were the other schools representing the SAC.
The Southeast Region sends eight teams to the national tournament but regionally-unranked Queens University solidified one of the bids by virtue of winning the Conference Carolinas Tournament. Undefeated No. 1 North Georgia won the Peach Belt Conference Tournament and received that conference’s automatic bid. Lenoir-Rhyne held on to the No. 2 spot and secured its trip to the tournament by way of winning the SAC Tournament.
Tournament selections will be announced on Monday, May 10, at 10 a.m. via a webcast selection show on NCAA.com.
