MANILA, Philippines - Former Newberry College men's basketball star Sammy Monroe has signed to play for the Barako Coffee Masters basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association's Fiesta Conference.

Monroe scored 39 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out three assists in his PBA debut as Barako Coffee Masters defeated the Sta. Lucia Realtors, 97-93, in the season opener on Sunday.
