Time released for Newberry's NCAA Tournament First Round match

Scarlet and gray to take on Tusculum at 7 p.m. Friday

INDIANAPOLIS - The Newberry College women's soccer team will play its first round matchup with No. 5 Tusculum under the lights on Friday, November 13 ,at 7 p.m., the NCAA announced with the release of its NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament bracket.

Fourth-seeded Newberry will travel to Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn., for the match. This marks the first time in program history the team has been selected to play in the national tournament.

Of the nine Division II institutions in the state of South Carolina who currently sponsor women's soccer at the Division II level, Newberry is the first to qualify for the NCAA postseason. Francis Marion University qualified for the tournament in 1998 and 2000, while Presbyterian College qualified in 1994, 1995, 1997, 1999 and 2003. Both of those institutions now compete at the Division I level.

The winner of Newberry's match with Tusculum will play No. 1 Carson-Newman on Sunday, November 15, at 1 p.m.
